What is gluten?
Gluten is a protein mixture found in the seeds of many types of cereals. Due to its "sticky" properties, gluten is used in the food industry for processing flours. It actually causes flour to become a sticky dough when combined with water and gives baked goods, such as bread, their shape and bite.
How can porridge or muesli be gluten-free?
The oats in our gluten-free porridges and mueslis are produced gluten-free from the seed. This means that gluten-free oats are grown specifically for this purpose. In addition, from the selection of the cultivation area to the transport of the grain to the processing in our production facility in Langkampfen (Tyrol), it must be ensured that no mixing with gluten-containing grain is possible.
What is coeliac disease?
Coeliac disease or gluten intolerance affects people who cannot tolerate gluten or can only tolerate it with difficulty. The absorption of gluten in food damages the mucous membrane of the small intestine, which is why gluten-containing foods should be completely avoided. Common symptoms are abdominal pain, flatulence, weight loss, headaches and general fatigue.

What's so special about our gluten-free mueslis?
The signature characteristic of our gluten-free mueslis is that they are guaranteed to contain not the slightest trace of gluten. Gluten is comprised of 90% protein, 8% lipids and 2% carbohydrates and is primarily found in cereal grains.
That's why we take care to ensure meticulous cleaning and strict separation from products containing gluten throughout the production process. Furthermore, all of our gluten-free mueslis and porridges are 100% organic, which means that all the ingredients are sourced from certified organic growers and cultivated without chemical pesticides and fertilisers. When selecting our ingredients we always ensure that they are produced using natural, sustainable farming methods.
What is coeliac disease?
People with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance have difficulty digesting gluten, or cannot tolerate it at all. Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disorder which triggers an allergic reaction to gluten. When gluten is ingested the immune system attacks and damages the lining of the small intestine, so coeliac sufferers need to eliminate foods containing gluten from their diet. Common symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, weight loss, headaches and general fatigue. To date, however, there is no evidence that a gluten-free diet has any health benefits for people who do not have gluten intolerance.
The majority of our breakfast products are also lactose free, as lactose intolerance is very common, affecting as much as 75% of the global population according to some estimates. People with lactose intolerance cannot properly digest the milk sugars contained in food, suffering from bloating, abdominal cramps and/or nausea as a result. They are therefore advised to stick to a lactose-free diet.

All of our recipes are thought through right down to the finest detail, so you can be sure that your breakfast doesn't only taste great but is highly nutritious too. Gluten-free breakfast for every taste
Our mueslis come in an array of different flavours and varieties. For fruit fans we recommend our gluten-free products with freeze-dried berries. The majority of our strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, etc. are gently freeze-dried to retain all their natural vitamins and nutrients. Try our gluten-free Cranberry & Cherry Muesli or our Blueberry & Apple Porridge for an extra pop of fruity flavour.
Incidentally, Verival Porridge is easy-peasy to prepare. Simply place some mix in a bowl, add hot water or milk, leave to soak for three minutes and your warming gluten-free porridge is ready to enjoy!
We've even created a special gluten-free Sport Porridge for those who do lots of physical exercise. The gluten-free oatmeal porridge base is blended with a mix of bananas, dates, linseeds, maca powder and sunflower & pumpkin seed protein powder, enriched with Austrian-made chocolate with a cocoa content of 70%. Our Verival Sport Porridge delivers a perfect dose of morning energy and is the ideal breakfast before all kinds of endurance training as well as other sports.
As you'd expect, our gluten-free range also features a classic Bircher Porridge. As in the original recipe, our gluten-free porridge is sweetened with apples and sultanas and finished off with crunchy almonds. Like all of our products, our gluten-free Bircher Porridge is produced with care in the Austrian Tyrol, contains no added sugar and is naturally 100% organic. Enjoy!
