Where do our local berries come from?
As the name already reveals, the fruits come from “home”. Since the fruits are grown in Germany, they are often cheaper than exotic fruits. For example, in summer you can also collect different kinds of berries by yourself.
There are many different varieties of local fruits. The best known are these:
Strawberries
Blackberries
Raspberries
Gooseberries
Cranberries
Blueberries
Currants
Elderberries
Blueberries
Blueberries are, after strawberries, the most popular variety in Germany. The small fruits contain many different substances such as magnesium, iron, carotene, vitamin C and vitamin E.
This is the reason why they are so good for our immune system. Already 250 grams of blueberries cover the daily requirement of vitamin C of an adult. Blueberries also have a positive effect on various inflammations. In addition, they are great for making jams.
Blackberries
The dark and large blackberries are mainly found in supermarkets in late summer. Blackberries also have high contents of vitamin C, which strengthens our immune system. But the small fruits have even more advantages. The dark fruits are also said to calm or strengthen the vascular walls and connective tissue. So, blackberries also belong to superfoods and are very healthy for our body.
Raspberries
These small fruits can be found from June to October. They are especially known for their intensive coloring. Of all fruits, the sweet and sour berry has the most fibre, which activates our digestive system and can lower our cholesterol level. Raspberries also contain many different ingredients that have a positive impact on our skin and hair.
Strawberries
Without doubt, it is pretty sure that the strawberry is the most popular variety in Germany. But not only the taste of this fruit is convincing. Just 200 grams cover more than 150 percent of the daily requirement of vitamin C. The strawberry also contains many other substances that are known for cancer-preventive effects. In addition, consuming strawberries can inhibit the growth of tumors. In general, strawberries have a great positive impact on our body.
Currants
The currant is also a fruit known for its taste – sweet and sour. But this is not the only thing that distinguishes the currant. Currants also contain many vitamins that have a positive impact on our body.
