Looking for a snack between meals or before your workout?
We have the perfect Muesli Bites recipe for you, which will give you energy before exercise and is also a real treat for the palate.
The muesli bites consist mainly of granola. A ripe banana, some bourbon vanilla, a pinch of cinnamon, coconut oil and oat flakes are added.
Oatmeal is very popular with athletes before and after exercise because of its healthy ingredients. They provide your body with valuable complex carbohydrates and proteins.
A big plus of the Muesli Bites is that they are completely free of refined sugar. The ripe banana gives the bites enough sweetness.
The tasty recipe
Ideal as a small snack before sports or your workout
First preheat the oven to 180 °C convection oven and line one or two baking trays with baking paper.
Finely mash the banana with a fork so that there are no pieces left. Of course, you can also use a hand blender.
Mix the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Warm the honey a little with the coconut oil and add to the dry ingredients with the mashed bananas.
Mix everything together until smooth and place small mounds on the baking trays using 2 teaspoons.
Flatten the mounds with a moistened teaspoon or your fingers and bake in the preheated oven for approx. 10 minutes.
Then turn the muesli bites over and bake again for 7-10 minutes until golden brown.
Oat flakes as a source of energy before exercise
Oatmeal is an optimal combination of nutrients for athletes due to the complex carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and trace elements it contains. Carbohydrates provide the body with energy and “keep the engine running”.
They also have another important advantage: long-lasting satiety. If you eat 40-50 g of oat flakes daily for breakfast, you will feel pleasantly full throughout the morning.
Oat flakes have a low glycaemic index. This means that they are absorbed slowly into the blood and thus ensure a constant blood sugar level and sustained energy supply.
Ripe bananas as a sugar substitute
Most athletes pay attention to a healthy, balanced sports diet. Sugar consumption should also be taken into account, because too much of the “white poison” should not be consumed. Replacing household sugar with bananas makes sense.
Bananas naturally contain sugar – fructose, also called fructose. In addition to their natural sweetness, bananas contain important minerals such as potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, manganese and copper.
Ripe bananas are easy to digest, ideal for leftovers and, like oatmeal, have a low glycaemic index.
Muesli Bites before exercise
Thanks to the optimal composition of oat flakes, bananas and nuts from the Granola, the Muesli Bites provide you with plenty of healthy energy before your workout.
They can be prepared in just 30 minutes, taste delicious and are also suitable as a snack between meals. Enjoy!
