5 tips for a romantic start into Valentine’s Day

Many people associate Valentine’s Day with kitsch, but it doesn’t have to be a huge bouquet of flowers and the most expensive heart-shaped box of chocolate. Valentine’s Day should be all about spending time together, whether with your partner, friends or family.

For us, a romantic day naturally begins with a hearty breakfast together! Especially in the morning, when you’re trying to pack all your things together and almost fall out of your apartment door, you should just stop and slow down for once. We will show you how to have a comfortable start into Valentine’s Day with only five tips.

Where does the tradition come from and what is behind the name?

Saint Valentine of Terni

According to legend, Saint Valentine gave flowers from his garden to newly married couples. He is said to have married several couples in the third century despite the emperor’s ban.  Because marriages that were made under him were supposedly under a special star. Today St. Valentine is considered the patron saint of lovers.

Valentine’s Day today

Since then, it has been the tradition on Valentine’s Day to your loved one a small gift, such as flowers or chocolate. But also to take him/her out for dinner or a date.

We take Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to spend a little more time together, preferably over breakfast. That’s why we want to show you how you can make your Valentine’s Day breakfast even more romantic with 5 simple tips:

Five tips for your Valentine’s Day breakfast

1. Take time for each other

The most beautiful gift is and remains time – experiencing beautiful moments and creating memories together. For this, you may take a little more time in the morning before you start work or fill your day with other tasks.

2. Be my VERIVALentine

A cozy breakfast for two with delicious food and good conversation – that’s what everyone wants! Of course, it doesn’t always have to be the breakfast table. For a little variety we recommend, for example, to picnic on a blanket on the floor, to have breakfast on the couch or (exceptionally) even in bed. Because at the breakfast table you sit across from each other almost every day, but a picnic on the living room floor with a bowl of warm porridge is something special. If you want your breakfast to be a little more extravagant, we recommend Verival Crunchy Love Slices with Raspberry-Red Turnip Cream. You can find the recipe below.

3. Reminiscing

You have a song together or you went to an unforgettable concert together? Recall beautiful experiences with the right musical background or with a look at old photo albums for brunch.

4. The most beautiful Valentine’s Day present

In our eyes, the most beautiful Valentine’s Day gift is nothing material, but nice words, gestures, laughter and fun together. But also little notes, nice messages and sweet letters. Of course, this is not only a nice gift for Valentine’s Day, but also for the rest of the year.

And if you want to surprise your partner with a little something, you should take a look at our porridge gift sets 😉

5. Why wait for Valentine’s Day?

As already indicated, we think that small gestures and time together are not only important on Valentine’s Day. You should not only show, but also tell them how much you love them as often as you get the chance. ♥

Love slices with raspberry-beetroot cream with Verival Berry Crunchy

Ingredients

For the base:

  • 200 g Verival Organic Berries Crunchy
  • 80 g Verival Almonds
  • 10-12 pieces of Verival dates, soaked in water for 15 minutes
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tbsp Verival maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

For the cream:

  • 150 g Verival cashew nuts, soaked in water for 1 hour
  • 100 g beetroot, cooked and grated
  • 100 g raspberries, frozen
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp Verival maple syrup
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

To decorate:

  • A few fresh or frozen raspberries

Instructions

  • For the base: Mix the organic berries crunchy, almonds, finely chopped dates, cocoa, coconut oil and maple syrup in a food processor/electric mixer to a smooth, slightly sticky mass.
  • Line a suitable cake tin with baking paper and spread the muesli-cocoa mixture on top. Press the mass firmly with your hands to form a nice, smooth and firm layer. Cool the base in the freezer while preparing the filling.
  • For the filling: soak cashews in water for at least 1 hour in advance. Cut the banana into thin slices and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  • Put the soaked cashews, grated beetroot, the frozen banana slices and raspberries, coconut oil and maple syrup also in the food processor/mixer and mix/process to a fine cream.
  • Remove the base from the freezer and spread the cream evenly on top.
  • Deep-freeze the cake for at least 2-3 hours. Take it out 10-15 minutes before serving and decorate as desired. I prefer to use frozen raspberries and the Verival Crunchy.

As these slices are really very filling, I only serve a small amount here. The remaining slices can be kept in the fridge for 2-3 days. Bon appetite!
